This SCFL Division Two clash was against two teams separated by one place in the league. The stage was the excellent Palatine Park Football Centre in Worthing, where the frost failed to postpone this fixture.
The game kicked off and it took the teams a little time to warm up. Aaron Virani and Jamie Acton were in control in the centre of defence for the Dragons and were seeing off any danger coming their way.
TD were looking lively upfront with the usual suspects Adam Campbell-Stone and Ollie Broad giving the defenders of Worthing a torrid time. The first goal came on the 35th minute, TD were on top and Town were under pressure. The right back, Conor Smith took his goal with composure and precision and the Dragons went one nil ahead.
HT: 1-0
The game picked up and even though the midfield dominated, there were opportunities for both teams. On the 47th minute, striker Adam Campbell-Stone got on the scoresheet with his usual deadly finish.
At two nil, the Dragons were comfortable but they’ve been in this situation before so they knew a third would secure the points. Unfortunately they were unable to score that vital goal and it was Worthing who scored.
On the 50th minute, Town broke forward and managed to get into a great position. The ball was played to the speedy forward and he smashed it past Rob Woodward. The score was now 2-1 and the home team wanted an equaliser.
They came forward like a snow storm and even when Ollie Broad was sent to the sin bin on 85 minutes they could not get past the tough TD defence. The referee blew for full time and the exhausted Dragons celebrated their victory. They are now sitting fifth in the league which is a fantastic achievement for the players and management team.
FT 2-1
