TD Shipley 3s continued their winning start to the season with a second successive victory over Watersfield 3s, whilst also retaining the title of the only team in the league to not concede a goal.
The game started with a high tempo and Deep capitalised on a defensive mistake by the Watersfield to release Shane one on one with the keeper, the experienced striker making the finish look easy by banging it into the corner. TD retained the high tempo and after some sloppy mistakes by Watersfeild were able to punish them once again on the counter. Mark driving the ball into the box with the ball landing at the feet of Deep who scored his first ever TD goal by placing the ball in the back of the net with the outside of his foot. With only 15 minutes of the match played, TD two nil up and the team pressing from the front (Mark setting the tone) the next goal was crucial, as the half went on the intensity dropped off slightly and the TD defence began to martial the game towards half time with Javarn making a big contribution on his first outing for TD.
The second half began with intent to play football from TD, and a concerted effort to pass out from the back, but the opposition pushed up high and the game become a scrap for possession. With a number of fouls being committed by both teams and the tempo dropping off in the sweltering heat TD looked to see out they game by dropping of their second forward into midfield, thus becoming hard to break down. The final whistle went with the score at 2 - 0, a positive result from the first game at home for the 3s.
Man of the Match: Deep, 1 assist, 1 goal and tireless energy!
